Spectrum / waveform parameters calculator

This calculator deals with the relationship between the different spectrum and waveform configuration parameters: maximum frequency, number of lines, frequency resolution, sampling period, number of samples, acquisition time, number of averages and overlap percentage.

It can help you with the set-up of your data collection parameters, specially those not directly available in your software / data collector / analyzer. For example: many systems do not allow to configure waveform parameters directly, so with this calculator you can find the spectrum configuration parameters that match your time waveform needs.

If you can't see the applet above then Java is not installed in your computer,
you can download Java from http://www.java.com/download/ .

Instructions:

Edit any parameter and press 'Enter', the calculator will find the others.

From the six spectrum / waveform parameters (maximum frequency, number of lines, frequency resolution, sampling period, number of samples and acquisition time) you need to specify two to calculate the other four, the calculator will highlight the last two entered parameters based on which the calculations are done.

Note that the number of lines and samples are always rounded up so that the number of samples is a power of 2 (as  in most commercial vibration analysis systems), and the remaining parameters are adjusted accordingly.
